REVIEW: LIVE AT THE MUSICIAN (13/01/12)

Here's a little review of last Friday's show at The Musician. Taken from Leicester's online music magazine, Artsin Leicester

Soloist Chris Warner sat down to sing but that in no way detracted from his rich, powerful voice and energetic delivery. A well established local artist, his set was presented with a considerable level of passion and resonance, backed by versatile guitar work. An accomplished song writer, Chris has supported acts such as Steve Earle, Macy Gray and Jose Gonzalez. Letting rip with a couple of strongly stompy numbers, he easily commanded the large and somewhat noisy audience. A well balanced set with lashings of presence.

Marvelous.

STUDIO BOUND

Hey happy new year everybody, hope your Christmas was a good one and just wanted to say a big thanks for all the love in 2011.

It's still all very much in infant stages at the mo however I'm super excited to say that I've already started work on a new EP/Album. 2 sessions down and it's sounding pretty sweet. Will be sure to keep you posted and I'm looking forward to letting the world hear it. It's certainly a step in a different direction...expect the unexpected maybe!

SUMMER WRAP UP

Well with September now upon us and the nights drawing in (boooo!) I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for an awesome summer. We've met some great people old and new, played with some amazing musicians and released a new album to boot...has been fun!

To cap the summer off I shall be performing at the Organic Food festival in Bristol this weekend. If you have any friends and family in Bristol please be sure to pass on the good word, stage times and dates are as follows:

Organic Food Festival:
Saturday 3rd September: On Stage 1:30pm
Sunday 4th September: On Stage 3pm

Looking forward I have been writing lots recently so maybe I'll hit the studio soon and record some new tunes ready for the busy year ahead...
And no doubt I'll still be on tour for the next 20 years too so will keep you posted on any future shows!

Confident soundtrack debut by midlands based songwriter has a real summer vibe

Chris Warner grew up in Leicester and set out in the singer/songwriter world in 2005 with his band The Sunshine Blues. He has appeared on stages with Steve Earle, Macy Gray and Jose Gonzalez as well as turning up on a few BBC radio shows. After taking a year out in 2010 Chris came back from an around the world "gap year" to work on DEVON LANES & LONGBOARDS.

The title refers to a surf film released by Barnstaple filmmaker Andy Haworth which documents the surfing scene in Devon.

Soundtracks can be tricky things to release, especially with a (relatively) obscure film as the reference point. However I am pleased to say that the ten tracks on this CD are a delight. I wasn’t sure what to expect but from the opening ‘Light My Fire’ with a powerful melodic voice that just cried out summer evenings on the beach, allied to some excellent lead guitar from Chris himself, I was entranced. The good vibe continued through the instrumentals ‘Blues in A’ featuring some laid back acoustic picking and ‘Country Jam’ a tune that would not be out of place in a Down South Juke Joint. Other stand outs for me were the catchy ‘Goodbye’ as strong an "I’m off" song as you will hear and ‘Satisfy Me’ a tongue in cheek appeal to a girl to ‘....won’t you satisfy me/give me some relief/from what this world throws at me...’.

This album evokes warm feelings throughout and will have you digging those Beach Boys albums out. Chris is an excellent singer and musician who deserves to be heard by a wider audience if this release is anything to go by. JJ

DEVON LANES: THE SOUNDTRACK - OUT 02/05/2011

Dear Ladies and Gents

Following the success of the Andy Haworth film Devon Lanes & Longboards, Chris Warner is proud to announce the release of the films soundtrack on Monday 2nd May 2011.

Released through independent label Born2Surf, Devon Lanes & Longboards: The Soundtrack shall be available from all major digital download stores (iTunes, Amazon, Spotify etc) and also in physical CD format through Chris' website.

To celebrate this release, Chris shall be playing at The Musician in Leicester supporting the great Martin Harley Band. More information to follow soon

DEVON LANES UPDATE

Hey hey, Happy New Year everybody! Hope you all had a great festive season.

I'm pleased to announce that surf film Devon Lanes & Longboards has recently passed the £4000 mark raised for charity!
This is an amazing effort and I'd just like to thank everyone who has picked up a copy of the DVD and contributed towards this worthy cause.

LIVE AT THE MUSICIAN/DEVON LANES OUT NOW

Hey everyone, how goes it!? Hope all is well

I'm excited to say that this Wednesday 26th May I shall be performing live at The Musician in Leicester supporting Martin Harley and his band.
Martin Harley and his crew are a bunch of stupidly talented musicians playing a roots rock blues vibe and I can't recommend them highly enough. I first caught wind of them when they supported G.Love and Special Sauce a few years back and I've been a fan ever since.

I'll also be branching out and playing with my as yet untitled side project, and all I'm going to say is expect the unexpected!
If you fancy coming down to check it out then doors open at 8. Me and fella's are on stage at 8:15 prompt with the night wrapping up around 11pm.

Also I'd just like to mention that surf film Devon Lanes & Longboards is officially out now!
All proceeds are being donated to Macmillan Cancer charities so please support it if you can and you should feel really good about doing so. There's also 8 brand new Chris Warner songs available to down on the bonus section of the DVD.

DEVON LANES & LONGBOARDS - UPDATE

Hey there everybody, hope this mail finds you well!

Appreciate it's been a while however you may remember me telling you about a new surf film coming out titled Devon Lanes & Longboards? Well I'm happy to report that it is now due out at the end of this month!

I've seen a sneak preview of the film and I must say it contains some amazing surfing along with some fantastic images.

The film shall be premiered at Bristol Surf Show on the 24th April, I shall also be performing there throughout the day. It promises to be a really great event so if surfing and music's your bag, then come on down! www.surf-show.com

i have the great honour of letting you know about a new surf film which is due out April 2010 called Devon Lanes & Longboards

directed by the good man Andy Haworth, Devon Lanes is all about the beauty and fun of being a Devon longboard surfer throughout the four seasons. Featuring some of the UK's best longboard surfers and a soundtrack by yours truly, all profits from the film will be donated to charity.
